Using a chain saw to carve statues from felled trees is popular in St. Paul. One of my favorites is a woman on a boulevard in front of a stately home on Summit Avenue. When the weather turns chilly or cold, some wag (the owner?) offers her a bit of warmth. I need to go by during this bitter winter weather we have been having to see if she is wearing something warmer today.

A shawl? Heck, she needs a winter parka over her shoulders after this week.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice sculpture. I'm surprised someone hasn't given her a hat.
ReplyDeleteShe's beautifully carved but I hope she has a parka for the next few months.
ReplyDeleteYep, she definitely needs a down-filled coat!
ReplyDeletebest yarn-bombing i've ever seen. awesome sculpture!
ReplyDeleteSomeone is having fun...and making folks smile. I like.
ReplyDeletethey are really able to capture some great detail with a chain saw!! I like the shawls too. I wonder if they put her in a bikini when the weather get's too hot...or at least a nice sun hat.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a skill and I've never understood how people do this. Chainsaws, for me, are so unwieldy and dangerous. I'd cut off my leg trying to carve a statue!
ReplyDeleteexcellent carvings and the shawls are beautiful. Lots of love in those creations.
ReplyDeleteThere's a place up the valley from here that at least in the past has had large carved wood sculptures like these.
ReplyDeleteThat is very nice work for a chainsaw. I always have my eye out for a good chainsaw bear but they are hard to find.
ReplyDeleteNice carvings.
ReplyDeleteI like the whimsy of wrapping her in warmer clothing. It is a good sculpture.
ReplyDeleteSomeone must be making these shawls and want to show them!. I always like this kind of humor.
ReplyDeleteSomeone has a great sense of humour. I think she needs earmuffs and a hat too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful gift! A treasure for sure!
