SF, NM Vacation #2

I've discovered that the marvelous light in Santa Fe is VERY tricky. I think that I need to shoot either early in the morning or late afternoon. I continue to experiment!

Ah yes. I see you realize the light does make a huge difference. I think I prefer morning light when my mind is the most creative. Anyway, most of my stuff is shot early in the morning right after the sun peeps over the tree tops and begins to light up things. A spot of light here and there.

Your sculpture would catch that light and make a dramatic difference when you catch it touching the top of the head only, or when it touches some other part and before it lights up the whole thing.

A lot of people never really understand the difference in light and shadow and how it changes the way we perceive things.

I am looking forward to seeing more of your work in light.

  3. Then it must be like the light in summer here. Only morning or evening works, otherwise the contrast is too great. Still I do like yuor statue and she's nice in B and W.

  4. I think this is one of the advantages of digital cameras - you can shoot away, & make all of the mistakes you want as you experiment without going broke :)

The statue looks EXACTLY like you, dear photographer, though the hair is a bit longer.

  6. I have often said this about light, but it's not just time of day but where in the world you are. You don't get shadows along the equator. Here it is always thick, whereas in greece it is clear like liquid. It's a beautiful shot, be proud of it.
