Santa Fe, New Mexico Vacation #3

Several statues are in the courtyard in front of The Saint Francis of Assisi Cathedral, but this one is the most interesting. It immortalizes Kateri Tekawitha, 1656-1680, who is said to be the first Native American to be promoted to sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church.

I had no idea a Native American has been promoted to Sainthood. I don't even know anything about her. Your photo essay is neat.

  4. Very interesting proportions on the statue. You are tight about the light. Early morning, and late afternoon are the best times to shoot in the west.

  6. The face of that statue is so beautiful and the colors with the bronze is unexpected.
I am surprised by her stock ankles but perhaps thats the way most of the population really is anyway.
I also didn't know that a Native American was promoted to sainthood.
