Season's First Snowfall, December 1, 2007-10 inches

After an afternoon and evening watching snow fall on December 1, these are a few scenes I observed during my Sunday morning stroll the next day.

  1. Looks like what we received was a dusting compared to what you guys got.

I don't look forward to the slush tomorrow either.

  2. Magic! especially the bottom right, with the warm rusty tones of the tree in the foreground.
Never seen a snow mower before... any salesman trying to sell them here would have a lean existence!

  3. Brrrrrrrr! And we're just getting started...

Boston's forecast for tomorrow: "Periods of freezing drizzle...snow and sleet likely...then snow...sleet...periods of freezing drizzle and rain."

    Sigh.

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog. As for the Castle house - I am really not sure; but judging by the windows, I would say it is one room with a high ceiling. It would be quite amazing to take a peek inside.

  5. Yikes Kate - I'm here in my thongs with the fan going and the tropical waters lapping at my door but I think I'll go find a jacket!!!!

Fabulous - but just for a short time!!!!

  6. Looks much like the scene outside my window, Kate! I loved watching the snow fall, but listening to the sleet that followed striking the windows had me shivering even in the warmth of my living room. Looks like we have more snow coming Tuesday and end of the week.

Love the picture of the tree bottom right!

  7. Nice report. Happy to see some snow. We don't know what snow is in the west of France, it's too warm.

    Good Monday morning Kate!
Now it starts to look familiar landscape and so have been thinking those Finns, who moved just to snowy parts of your country like Judy`s ( from link list)grandparents or was it grand grandparents.
But how long your snow will last on the ground, we have it until April snowing slowly more and more, never very much in one day. Bad slushes start perhaps in the end of March in my part of Finland. Enjoy about children`s snow happiness :)

  11. sigh....winter is here with a vengeance.

I do need to get me one of the snow mowers, this shoveling is painful.

  13. Wow, 10 inches is a lot of snow for that first snow fall. Its pretty to look at but I think I will taake my California valley weather.
Love the pictures from the warmth of my room.

  17. We're having some of that now "a wintry mix" as they say on TV.
I love how you can see that grey sky in your shots - there's a lot of snow up there!

  19. 10 inches! Wow!

Here, we were told to expect something like that. But so far, it has not materialized. Of course, there is more to come. And icy conditions. So, I'm not *crowing* yet!

  21. Winter has arrived ... the nigh plow sign in one of your photos is something we never see in the South ... A Sunday morning stroll through fresh snow sounds very appealing.

  25. What an excellent Sunday you had! We are STILL waiting for the first snowfall in Kansas City. Being a transplant from Colorado, I am more excited for snow than the average Kansas Citian! :)

  27. Kate, I could SOOOO enjoy that weather... if I did NOT have to drive anywhere in it! If I did not have to go to work, but could instead play around in the snow and then go in and sit by a roaring fire. Wow, that would be sweet!
    Nice montage (?) collage(?)
    Thanks,
    Wayne

I'm very sorry we didn't get this snowfall, which we were supposed to. We just got the cold. I'm ready for a blanket of snow.

    Beautiful!
