Ye Olde Water Tower

A remnant and a memorial to times past, this landmark rises high in a park in the Highland Park neighborhood. Closed to the public for most of the year, it is opened in July each year during the Highland Arts and Crafts Fair. Youngsters and folks heartier than I climb the many steps for a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.

  1. I've driven by this tower so many times, I've never been this close to it in my lifetime. I never knew it was only open in July.

  2. Steve, Come to Highland Park during the Festival and you, too, can climb it! My husband grew up in the neighborhood and used to play in it. Ah, those were the days!

  4. Another wonderful landmark tucked into my memory. My Father lived in the Highland Park and Crocus Hill areas when I was young and I lived on the "other side of the bridge" with my Mother in Mendota Heights. I always loved seeing the Highland Park Tower from Cherokee Park and various spots on Old Hwy 13 because it reminded me that my Dad wasn't so far after all. Even now, it makes me happy just seeing it. Thanks so much for all of your excellent photos, they are like therapy for me. I miss MN so much!
