We had two sailboats moored just above Alton Lock & Dam, where the river is a mile wide. Although technically sail boats have the right of way over any motorized vessel, we obviously stayed away from the barge traffic. <br /><br />I agree with you. The Mississippi, like the ocean, is mesmerizing.
