Lots of wood chips!

MN Worker Series: This landscaper willingly posed as he unloaded a huge amount of woodchips. Unphotographed are worker bees that are church-going volunteers at St. Luke's parish on Summit Avenue. I didn't want to disturb their energetic work as they were spreading the chips around shrubs and bushes, preparing for winter! No snow yet!!
Today in Minnesota History: 1991-The Halloween Blizzard begins. A record snowfall of 24-26 inches blankets the area from Duluth to the Twin Cities. (It was great fun--I criss-crossed the abandoned neighborhood streets on my cross country skis. It was gorgeous!!) Will it happen again this year? I wouldn't mind, but the weatherman forecasts lowered temperatures only. (Historical information: mnhs.org)

  2. I didn't know chips were used for that so thanks for the info. I hope you enjoy the snow soon, perhaps without breaking new snowfall records!-)This is another good series.

  3. Yes, it's time to start the mulching process here. It's always a good idea to get an inch or so on tender perennials before the first frost and then add more as the winter progresses.

Hope you have a frightfully good day, Kate.

looking at your worker series i often wandered how and why one chooses their profession. he looks a happy chap.

  6. Mulch! I used to do work for my father (a professional lanscaper himself), and I am quite familiar with the mulching process. He seems happier about a whole truckload to spred than I would be!

  10. I love woodchips! I love to run on woodchip trails and smell their scent. That pile spilling out of the truck looks like fun.
