Cristo's Minneapolis Greek Restaurant

I've never been to Greece, at least not yet,  so I cannot attest to the authenticity of the dishes but if you want a good Greek dish, hie yourself over to Cristo's Greek restaurant in Minneapolis.  A friend and I went there for lunch last Tuesday after touring the Hapsburg Exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.  The food we ordered was fantastic!  I ordered Koupepia (lamb wrapped in grape leaves) on a bed of rice. Delicious! My companion finished off her Vegetarian Mousaka and declared it delicious. I decided to try to make Augolemono (my favorite chicken-lemon soup) for our own Easter dinner.  My son is smoking a leg-of-lamb so I think the soup will be a wonderful starter for the meal.  Now I just have to visit the Greek Islands to compare their dishes with these!

  1. I have visited Greece a number of times and I really like the Greek food. And the isles, And the ouzo. And the beaches...This looks very tasty.

  2. The only Greece (Grease) I've visited is when I'm cooking up burgers. Yuk, yuk. Not a lamb guy. So we're taking the traditional ham route for the Easter repast.

  3. We'll be grilling a leg of lamb... haven't made avoglemono in ages, that would make a great starter! Haven't been to Greece either, but we sure do love Greek food. Dolmades, yum!

  5. Sounds (and looks) delicious. When I worked in Chicago, there were several very good Greek restaurants to choose from. And while I was there I visited a relative of my dear friend David in Ann Arbor Michigan and I helped make dolmades for a Greek feast they were preparing.

  10. From the Hapsburgs to Greece. Quite a trip. I've been trying to understand what you were saying about the soup and lamb and lions and stuff but it's all Greek to me.

  12. I love lamb, so I'm sure I would love Koupepia. We had a small greek restaurant in Terrell. It served gyros and chicken fried steak. It didn't last long.
